# Interactive banners in live streams

Interactive banners are clickable elements over the player. They help you direct viewers to registration, payment, a landing page, or an external site at the right moment of a live broadcast.

This article covers where to configure banners, who can manage them, which fields to fill in, and how to show a banner during a live stream.

## Who this article is for

* **Webinar organizers** — need to surface a registration or payment link on time.
* **Teachers and lecturers** — need to highlight course materials during the broadcast.
* **Stream producers** — need to improve conversion from the stream to a landing page.

## Available plans

The feature is available on **Basic**, **Super**, and **Mega** plans. Compare plans in [Kinescope Pricing Plans: How to Choose and Pay](https://docs.kinescope.com/pricing-and-billing/kinescope-pricing-plans/).

## Roles and access

Banner management in the stream **Studio** is available to:

* **Administrator**
* **Manager**
* **Editor Plus**
* **Editor**

Users without stream management rights — for example, **Observer** or guest roles — cannot manage banners. Learn more in [Team Access Rights Management](https://docs.kinescope.com/team-management/team-access-rights/).

## Where to find banners

1. Open **Streams**.
2. Select a project and open the stream you need.
3. Go to **Studio**.
4. Open the **Banners** tab.

## How to create a banner

1. On the **Banners** tab, click **New banner**.
2. Configure the banner appearance and orientation.
3. Fill in the required fields.
4. Click **Save**.

To edit an existing banner, open it from the list on the same tab.

## Banner fields

### Required

* **Title** — up to 60 characters.
* **URL** — link to the resource (required).

### Conditionally required

* **Button text** — required when the button is enabled (up to 16 characters).

### Optional

* **Subtitle** — up to 60 characters.
* **Image** — recommended size 150×150. There is no strict file size limit; the image is compressed automatically on upload.

## Additional settings

* **Orientation** — horizontal or vertical.
* **Position** — top or bottom of the player, left / center / right.
* **Colors** — background, text, button, and button text.
* **Display duration** — 5 / 10 / 30 seconds, 1 / 2 / 5 minutes, or **Unlimited**.

## Showing during a broadcast

* You can turn a banner on **only after the stream has started**.
* Only **one** banner can be active at a time.
* With a limited duration, viewers see a **countdown** until the banner is hidden.
* With **Unlimited** duration, viewers see **elapsed display time**, not a countdown.
* Changes to banner settings **apply live** — you do not need to hide and show the banner again.

> **Внимание:**

Only **one** banner can be active in a stream at a time. To show another banner, hide the current one first.

## Banner order and drag-and-drop

Each banner in the list has a drag handle on the left. Reorder banners as needed — the order is **saved separately for each role** in the workspace.

## Limitations

* Banner interaction is available **only during a live broadcast**.
* Banners are **not shown** in the **stream recording** (VOD after the broadcast).
* There is **no public API** for banner management at this stage.

## How viewers see the banner

The banner appears over the player in the position you chose. A click on the banner or button (if enabled) opens the URL you set.

On narrow players, the image may be hidden automatically — text and the button remain. Before going live, check the banner in a mobile player or a narrow browser window.

## FAQ

### Can I show two banners at once?

No. Only one banner can be active.

### Do I need to restart the banner after editing text or a link?

No. Changes apply live while the banner is shown.

### Will viewers who join mid-show see the banner?

Yes. Display state is synchronized: with a limited duration they see the same countdown; with **Unlimited** they see the current elapsed time.

### Will the banner appear in the recording after the stream?

No. Banners are not played back in VOD.

### Why can banner order differ by role?

The **Banners** tab remembers list order **per role** — this helps teams with different Studio workflows.
